Meet Lilia Buckingham!

Meet Lila Buckingham! You probably know her from her popular wed series “Dirt”. For such a young actress, she has so much going on! Not only does she act and dance, she is also an author! Keep a look out for her book coming out next year. She even started her own anti-bullying organization called Positively Social. We has fun chatting about all her projects and finding out her answers to our exclusive Popular questions!

Can you tell us about your character Autumn, in Dirt?
Autumn is a very complex character who is really fun to play. She started as this mean girl head cheerleader, but as we learned more about her, we began to understand her motives. She’s got an incredibly tough home life, and it kind of explains why she’s so controlling at school. But as the seasons episodes go on, she definitely softens up, and we see that she really cares for the people around her. Also, in season two, I got to explore this intelligent, determined side to Autumn because we were solving this murder. So getting to do that was so much fun!!

Tell us about how the worlds in Total Eclipse and Chicken Girls connect!
It’s really cool because basically all of the shows exist in the same universe. I call it the BDU (Brat Digital Universe). Chicken Girls and Zoe Valentine take place in Attaway, and Dirt and Total Eclipse take place in Millwood. The two towns are right across from each other, so that’s why our characters can cross over onto other shows! It’s so clever the way Brat did that, and we all love getting to meet all the other casts. Every time there is a new show, everyone roots for it to be taking place in their town.

What are three of your favorite designers/brands or shops?
I love Urban Outfitters, Brandy Melville, and thrift shops because they always have such good and inexpensive pieces that you won’t see on everyone else. It’s a like a treasure hunt and one of the great things about living in LA!

What has been your favorite city you visited?
Mykonos in Greece was incredibly beautiful. My friend Charlotte and I went with my Mom, and it was so beautiful and the people were so fun and kind… and i’ll always love London!

Dream concert ticket (any band, any decade)?
QUEEN!! I love them so much, and seeing them in concert would’ve been insane!

Favorite artist?
I love Declan McKenna, and I’ll always be a sucker for anything Arctic Monkeys.

Karaoke anthem?
Eenie Meanie by Justin Bieber! It’s a classic.

Favorite Movie?
Pretty Woman or Stand by Me!

TV addiction?
“Stranger Things”, “Riverdale”, and “Freaks and Geeks”!!

Last fashion item purchased?
A big fluffy coat that I definitely didn’t need :)

Three people – dead or alive, real or fiction- that you’d like to invite to dinner?
Michelle Obama, Audrey Hepburn, and Jane Austen! That would be the best dinner ever.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I sleep with my eyes half open. It’s so creepy.

Do you have a party trick?
Very strange, but I have double jointed shoulders, so I can put my arms all the way over my head and back.

What does Popular mean to you?
To me, being popular is about being liked and appreciated for who you really are and treating everyone as equals.

Can you tell us about any other projects you have coming up?
Yes! I’m currently working on a book with the incredible author of the Pretty Little Liars series, Sara Shepherd, and it’s set to come out in Spring 2020! Also, we’re currently filming a movie with Brat that I’m so excited for, and I’m really excited for everyone to see it. I’m also filming a Brat special, and I have LOVED getting to know the cast and working on a longer format.
