Meet Ruby Modine!
Mar 5, 2019
Meet Ruby Modine! You probably know her as Sierra from the hit show “Shameless”! You have to see her in the thriller sequel “Happy Day Death 2U”. Not only is Ruby an incredilbe actress, she also is an amazing writer and recording artist. She released her debut EP with her band, Ruby Modine & the Disease, you can check it out on Spotify or Apple Music.
We met up with Ruby at our photo shoot in the hollywood hills. She was inspiring and smart, creative and overall fun to be around! We had a chance to find out more Ruby and ask her some of our exclusive questions!
Tell us about your character Jessica Roth in the movies “Happy Death Day”, and “Happy Death Day 2u”?
Lori Spengler is Tree’s roommate. She’s a medical student in training and her relationship with Tree is very complex. In the first film, she was the main antagonist and was killed by Tree, causing Tree’s time loop to end. In the second film, something is different. There is still a sense of mystery, however, there is a more caring and nurturing tone to her character. A lightness that we hadn’t seen before.
Tell us what do you and your character, Sierra from Shameless, have in common and how are you and Sierra different?
I relate to Sierra Morton’s character because she was written as a hard worker, a strong woman and she is driven towards greater things. She is always doing her best to become a better version of herself and wants to elevate her life and the lives of the people whom she loves. She also protects the people she cares for most.
The character and I differ when it comes to where she comes from. Her family life was very unstable and dark. She had a child at a very young age which meant she had to grow up much quicker while in a constant battle with Lucas’s father. Those elements of the characters life are foreign to me.
What do you like about filming a show vs a movie, (which one do you like more, why, how are they similar/different, which is more enjoyable)?
I love the experience of filming both television and film. There are different elements with each project that teach us something new. Every time you are on a set, be it television or film, you learn something which makes you stronger and that is my favorite part of it all. Walking away with more knowledge. Everything is a learning experience.

What does Popular mean to you?
To me, popular means that you have a presence, often times a little louder than most. Hopefully, with that presence, the person uses it to better the environment and not make it hostile.
Can you tell us about any other projects you have coming up?
Satanic Panic! I am so excited for everyone to see the wild night that this film takes place in. It follows two girls, who come from very different worlds, as they battle for their lives against dark magic.
