Get ready to raid your local newsstand: the first issue of POPULAR is coming soon, with a cover story on the emerging style star Sofia Richie. See her wardrobe, hear about her first Fashion Week, and learn about her connection to pop culture icons (including her own big sister, Nicole). Here’s a preview from her interview with Kate Williams:
On Her Fashion Blog:
“I made a Tumblr page, pretty much to stalk my friends and their pages. I never really thought I would make a blog myself. Then I got super interested in pictures and runways. I started following a bunch of model blogs and runway blogs and then I just started following designers…Sometimes I’ll see something on Tumblr and think, ‘Oh my god, how did I not think about this?’”
On Work Ethic:
“Nicole [Richie, her big sister] has taught me that if you want something good, it doesn’t just happen… You have to work for it.”
On Her Style Evolution:
“My mom dressed me up until I was eight, and she dressed me really cute, and then when I was 10, I would only shop in the guys’ section at the Gap! All of my friends are like, ‘Look at me when I was a little kid, I was so cute!’ and it’s a picture of them in a tutu. I’m so terrified to show them my pictures, because it’s me in boy shorts and a ponytail and my brother’s shirt.”
On Her Wildly Popular Instagram Feed:
“Instagram is just a way of showing the world a little piece of what you’re like. You’re not really giving everything away—it’s not like you’re making videos every second, you’re just giving a little picture of what’s happening in your life. No one can really completely figure it out.”
The issue hits stands this month, and also stars Alexa Chung, Clemence Poesy, Josie Canseco, Bella Harris, Chelsea Schuchman, Soko, Lionbabe, Sunflower Bean, and a bright yellow Ford Mustang.
It’s time to get psyched.
