10 Artists That Will Rule Your Playlists in 2016

Music

Dec 31, 2015

While 2015 brought in a ton of great music from Hailee Steinfeld, Grimes and Justin Bieber, we’re looking ahead to next year to see which artists will dominate your playlists. From R&B to pop, the below musicians are slated to be big next year. You don’t want to miss ’em!

FLETCHER
Boho pop newcomer FLETCHER first graced us with the catchy, empowering hit “Warpaint” earlier this year. Since then, she’s been named one of Spotify’s Artists To Watch in 2016. With two singles out, we’re placing our bets on an EP or album that’s going to take off in 2016.

Day Wave
For fans of Real Estate and Best Coast, Day Wave has been the answer to your sunny, lo-fi pop dreams. His music is raw, soothing and the kind of stuff you want to listen to when you’re just trying to chill out. Day Wave’s Jackson Phillips released his debut EP this year and has more coming in the first quarter of 2016.

Sunflower Bean
It’s been a big year for Brooklyn-based trio Sunflower Bean. They’ve gone from super DIY EPs to beautifully produced tracks like “Wall Watcher” – a song that still embodies their fuzzy ethos. Plus YSL muse Julia Cumming has been killing it with campaigns and runway shows. With a debut album coming in February, things are looking good for them

Bebe Rexha
You might not be all too familiar with Bebe Rexha yet, but she’s been doing her thing for quite some time now. You may have even caught her opening for Nick Jonas on tour. Not only has she had two hits with G-Eazy and Cash Cash, she co-wrote Eminem and Rihanna’s hit “The Monster.” With new music on the horizon, it looks like 2016 will be the year for Bebe.

Scott Helman
If you’re a fan of Vance Joy, Canadian singer-songwriter is going to be your new favorite artist. Following the release of an EP last year, he opened for Tegan & Sara, Shawn Mendes and Walk Off The Earth. We’re expecting big things from him in 2016.

Daya
Pittsburgh singer-songwriter Daya may still be in high school, but she’s writing pop songs beyond her years. She gained a ton of popularity earlier this year for her single “Hide Away” and became a role model as someone who refused to settle for guys that weren’t going to treat her well. Here’s to more empowerment from her in 2016.

LION BABE
Retro-soul has found new life with duo LION BABE. Led by Vanessa Williams’ daughter Jillian Hervey, the duo makes sultry funk-infused tracks that will make you not want to leave the dancefloor. We can’t wait for this duo’s debut.

Miya Folick
LA alt-rocker Miya Folick is bringing her experience in theater and with Buddhism to her music. With an edgy look and a dreamy sound, we’re hoping to see much more from Miya coming up.

Dua Lipa
With Lana Del Rey’s management behind her, UK dark-pop songstress Dua Lipa has been slated to stand out in 2016. She’s even worked with producer Emile Haynie on some of her tracks. We’ll definitely be hearing more from her in 2016.

Kacy Hill
Signed to Kanye West’s label GOOD Music, Kacy Hill was one of Kanye West’s backup dancers as well as a former American Apparel model. Her R&B-infused music is just what we needed this year. We’re hoping 2016 will bring a full-length our way.
