Inspired by the likes of Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, 070Shake, Troye Sivan and Christine & the Queens, Ci Majr is crafting stunning music, filled with intricate details and lively songwriting. The Chicago-born talent burst into the industry back in 2016 after the unexpected global success of her debut single “#CuffinSZN (demo),” and is now ready to take her career to the next level in 2021.

The first single off her highly anticipated debut EP Side Effects, “Summer Drug” marks Ci Majr’s latest single, and arguably one of her best works to date. Co-produced alongside UK multi-instrumentalist and producer Féz, “Summer Drug” is filled with interesting sonics, starting off with groovy percussion and gritty basslines before Ci Majr’s vocal lines lead into an anthemic chorus.

“Lyrically the inspiration was being in a place where you basically refuse to make yourself romantically vulnerable even though you’ve met a person who has boyfriend/girlfriend potential,” explains Ci Majr. “I think a lot of us have been in a place where we’ve been hurt from a relationship and have a hard time opening up again, so even when a good thing comes around you keep them at an arm’s length to keep yourself from getting hurt. So this song is saying ‘yes, you can absolutely satisfy my physical needs but we’re not taking it further than that’; likening ‘using’ someone for their body just like you’d use a drug of some sort.”
