Indie Rock Shows Its Sensitive Side

Music

Mar 5, 2015

If you like your indie rock with an extra dose of heart, then prepare to say hello to your new favorite music discovery. Since first joining forces back in 2012, the New York five-piece Controller has been bopping around the Manhattan scene, winning a following for their irresistible guitar riffs and danceable vibes. They released their debut EP in 2013, and, although we won’t have to wait too long for new music – they’re in the studio now – we’ve got an exclusive taste of what’s to come with their new single “Separator.” Recorded for a good cause (for the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill), it’s got sensitivity flowing between the melodies. As Jonathan Bellinger (vocals, guitars, synths) put it, “’Separator’” is a song about a guy fighting his own disintegrating grasp on reality and the relationships around him, but also rationalizing the way he is and pushing people away.” Who says rock ‘n’ roll can’t be sensitive, too? And, the best part is, it’s all topped off with a big, pop chorus. Listen here.
