Having burst into the scene with worldwide hits such as “Flow” and “Do It Like You,“ trio Crooked Colours are one of the most exciting indie-electronic acts coming out of Australia right now. Comprised of Phil Slabber on vocals, guitar and production, Leon Debaughn on keys and production, and Liam Merrett-Park on drums, Crooked Colours have amassed over 200 million worldwide streams since they started releasing music back in 2014, having also released two full studio albums since with 2017’s Vera and 2019’s Langata. With show-stealing performances around the world, most notably at acclaimed events such as Bonnaroo, Firefly, Electric Forest, Life Is Beautiful and CRSSD, Crooked Colours are undoubtedly only getting started, and have set the foundations for a career that is bound to last for the years to come.

Following up their recent singles “Falling” and “Love Language,” Crooked Colours are now back with one of their most impressive releases to date, showcasing the essence of their vibrant sound on “No Sleep”. The talented trio has started out 2021 in an explosive way, as they just recently collaborated with duo slenderbodies on their single “superpowerful”.

“No Sleep” is driven by soaring synths, organic percussion and intoxicating songwriting, and is bound to be a monumental song in Crooked Colours’ career. Part of a series of singles that will reportedly be heard on their anticipated debut with Atlantic Records, “No Sleep” comes alongside an immersive visualizer and displays everything we love about Crooked Colours, leaving nothing more to be desired after its sweet 3-minute runtime. The single starts off with warm chords and playful melodies, as Phil Slabber’s emotional vocal performance takes the spotlight. The atmosphere slowly builds up with the help of groovy drum-work and ethereal atmospheres, while the chorus ultimately explodes into a combination of melancholic chord stabs, warm bass and driving percussion.

“We’ve always tried to meld emotional lyric content with dance production ideas and ‘No Sleep’ is a perfect example of that,” lead singer Phil Slabber shares. “At the heart of it the song is about someone who treated a relationship with a sort of arrogant nonchalance and didn’t truly appreciate it until it’s too late. It serves as a reminder to hold on to the good things we have and to not take them for granted.”
