After a short break, alt-pop duo Dady have finally made their triumphant return with their brand new single “Dark Mode.” Singer-songwriter Rachel Dady and producer Jesse O’Connor met in high school before forming a close musical bond while they were both living in New York City, launching their project Dady with their debut single “Friends” back in 2018. Since then, they have released a string of exciting singles, with the latest being lush trap-pop anthem “250cc.”

“Dark Mode” sports a much more organic sound than what we’re used to hearing from Dady, a sonic aesthetic that works perfectly under Rachel Dady’s ethereal voice. A smooth gem that extends over the 4-minute mark, “Dark Mode“ is driven by watery guitar licks, subtle percussion, and electronic soundscapes.

“Dark Mode was written and recorded (almost) all in one day during the summer of 2020. With this release, we decided to explore warmer, more organic instrument sounds, a bit of a departure from our early production and beat-heavy tracks. Chalk it up to turning 30 (or all of the Phoebe Bridgers and Soccer Mommy we listened to over the course of the pandemic), but we wanted to take our foot off the gas with Dark Mode. Both vocally and production-wise, it’s an exploration of how less can be more,” says Dady.
