After much anticipation, Everett Pearson and Kyle Marshall, better known as production and multi-instrumentalist duo Meridian have finally unveiled their debut EP ‘Dual’ in full. Coming to all digital platforms via boutique label and management company TH3RD BRAIN, ‘Dual’ represents a significant stylistic shift for the duo, who feel like they have finally truly found their sound and style.

A stunning followup to Meridian’s debut EP ‘halfway’ that was released earlier this year featuring the likes of Ayelle and Nylo, ‘Dual’ spans over four soothing tunes that act as an impressive continuation of Meridian’s familiar sonic palette, yet take it into a more organic and intimate setting with the use of a lot more organic instruments, as opposed to the lush electronic undertones of their work leading up to this point.

Previously released singles “Together” and “Navy Blue” alongside singer and songwriter Devan are nicely reinforced into the tracklist, which includes two vocal features, and two heavenly instrumentals surrounding them. Out of the two new tracks, “Navy Blue” immediately catches your attention with its soft guitar arpeggios and Chitra’s dramatic vocal performance, before transitioning into a relaxed outro. “Dual” on the other hand, which concludes the EP, slowly builds up with the help of distorted atmospheres and playful synth plucks, making up for a great addition to the tracklist. As Meridian explain:

“With this project we leaned into the idea that with creative work, what comes most naturally and in the path of least resistance is what’s meant to be there. The vast majority of this project was written at a cabin in rural central Oregon, creating a sense of isolation and solitude that is reflected in the music. This EP is a big shift from our last project, and is our favorite collection of our work so far.”

Having already received support from Spotify editorial playlists such as “Chill Tracks” and “Creamy,” as well as gearing up to perform their debut live show at Rise Festival this coming October, Meridian are only getting started, and with such quality and consistency, we can’t wait to see where they take things next.
