#PopularPlay: Elli Moore

Jun 9, 2020

When this artist titled her latest album ‘Confections’ she made sure to create the visuals to back it up!

One of the leading singles ‘Stomach’ puts a fun twist on that middle school idea of feeling butterflies. She also added that “Getting a little deeper than that, the song really reflects how too much of a good thing can make you feel uneasy because new feelings can be scary.” This ideology is really portrayed through out her music video for the iconic track as she’s seen going through phases of having a playful back and forth to a full on devouring of some pretty sweet pancakes. (Totally jealous BTW.)

Other singles on the album such as ‘OK’ and ‘Gateway’ radiate a coolness and confident factor that really propel Elli to being a unique voice within a new wave of modern pop.

Not only is Elli Moore successful as a singers but she’s also dominating behind the scenes. As one half of the female writing/production duo, LYRE, Elli has earned over 100 million streams, written number 1 singles (like Gabbie Hanna’s Honestly), guided social media stars like Kenzie Ziegler into mainstream record contracts with Arista Records AND worked with top tier music software companies like SPLICE on branded music presets.

Keep reading as she takes us through her latest single, her musical inspiration, and upcoming projects!

1. The music video for your latest single ‘Stomach’ seems like such a fun shoot day! How was shooting it? Was the idea yours?

Thank you so much! The funny thing is that the entire video shoot only took about 2 hours which is really short for a music video, but it felt like a very long day because of the content. The video is one continuous shot of me absolutely destroying a stack of pancakes. We ended up filming six takes and I ate about 4 to 5 full pancakes each takes! By the end of the day, I had eaten somewhere between 28-32 pancakes which I would not recommend to anyone, ever. You know, I think the visual metaphor of the video really conveyed the message behind the song. The look of exhaustion on my face by the end of the video perfectly captures the roller coaster of emotions love can create. That was my vision for the video — to portray everything I felt, but instead of a person, I made the object of my affection a stack of pancakes. The video was a huge team effort and I’m really fortunate to have such a collaborative team who brought so many cool ideas to the table to make such a fun, creative video.

2. Your music comes across so authentic and unique. Who is your musical inspiration?
This means a lot. I have so many artists I would say I’ve been a student of but Britney Spears always stuck out to me because she was the start of it all, and was my first CD. I look up to a lot of iconic performers because the stage is my home. I love to be in the studio and record obviously, but to be on stage, seeing people sing the songs you wrote in your bedroom is just unmatched.

3. If you could work with any artist in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
Hmmm, this is so tough. There are so many I love!! I think Lady Gaga is insanely talented and that would be awesome.

4. How long have you been singing?
I’ve been singing since I can remember. I think when I was a kid and my parents hired babysitters, they gave them a disclaimer about me before they left, if I were to get a hold of the microphone in the closet, bedtime no longer existed.

5. Do you have any advice for those who dream about being a singer?
Believing that you can do something is half of the battle. Be confident in yourself and never let anyone tell you that you can’t. It’s ok to have bad days but never let them take your spark (I know this is said a lot but it couldn’t be more true)

6. Can we have all-access to your closet, please?!
PLEASE do. This is such a huge compliment and so rewarding to hear because I loooooove clothes and pink (clearly). I’ve worked hard on finding outfits that fit my style. I can never bring myself to part with my outfits so if you’d like to come to take some off my hands I’m sure I could use the help!

7.Do you have any upcoming projects and plans? Tell us everything!
I am planning on releasing some new music very very soon. Maybe some at-home music videos. But, I’m definitely writing and recording some summer material.

Ok, now that you know everything about Elli, you can follow her on InstagramTwitter, and Youtube as well as listen to ‘Stomach’ right now!
