#PopularPlay: Fox Jackson

‘Behind Closed Doors’ is only the debut from London’s Fox Jackson, but it certainly won’t be the last.

From single strums to a seductive bassline, Fox effortlessly blends funk, pop, and soul into this undeniable groove track. ‘Behind Closed Doors’ tells of being shut out of a relationship.

Fox confides, “I suppose that whenever you write music, it always reflects your internal mood and what you are going through at the time.”

Upon releasing his debut single, Fox talked to Popular TV about the new single, his inspirations, and early career days.

When I asked about the message he wants to spread with his music, Fox explained, “My heartfelt songwriting is built upon honesty and sincerity.I feel as though my songwriting is a translation exercise. Translating the emotion I’m feeling at the time into words and music.”

This token of wisdom is only heightened by Fox’s experience in the industry having started his career at just 11 playing Billy Elliot in the hit West End musical “Billy Elliot the Musical”. “It was one of the most important ways to start my career, they gave me such a great pedigree and taught me so much at a young age. Working as an adult and being around music pushed me further than I ever could have pushed myself.”

Not just stopping there, the artist admitted that his own music is inspired by artist like Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang and George Benson. ” Inspired by the likes of artists such as I picked up the guitar when I was 16 and started writing songs. Ever since then I’ve been obsessed with funk soul and disco,” the artist went on to further express.

Even in quarantine the artist is finding ways to stay inspired. When speaking on his debut single he explained that behind closed doors seemed like something everyone could relate to given our current situation. A song about being detached from loved ones could not have come at a better time. Right now the artist says that he is focused on writing more music and providing great content for his fans. He also teased that a ‘Behind Closed Doors’ music video could be in the works.
