“You don’t know me, you don’t know me, you don’t know me, baby…” Yes, we can’t stop singing this, thanks to you Olivia!
We are inviting you to meet this amazing artist that will conquer your heart at the exact moment you listen to her voice: Olivia Lunny.
The Canadian singer-songwriter just launched her new single “Hold Me” and we are already addicted to it. The song is involvement, chill, and combined with the well-produced video clip, it’s a pure success!
“Hold Me” is the kind of song that was born naturally. You are inspired, sit down to think and suddenly you have a success. We hardly have songs like that nowadays, but the ones that exist, shine by themselves! A real gift for the music industry – and for our ears!
The song talks about something that everyone understands: The mix of feelings we have when we love someone but are not together anymore, so there is a real connection between our emotions and the lyrics.
But ok, let’s let Olivia tell us everything!
1. Tell us about your new single “Hold Me.” What inspired the track?
This song kind of wrote itself one night when I sat down at the piano. I had recently stopped seeing someone and there were a lot of mixed/built-up emotions going on. After 20 minutes of being at the piano, the song was written in its entirety and had revealed to me exactly how I was feeling. Writing a song has always been a way of snapshotting a moment in time for me. This song did exactly that :)
2. You also just released the music video for the single, what was the inspiration behind that?
The hold me video explores the emotional ebb and flow that comes with being in a relationship. It shines a light on the extreme feelings that can occur with infatuation. Love is a beautifully complex thing, but unfortunately, can often leave one feeling heartbroken and confused.
3. Going along the title of the song, would you say you are a big spoon or little spoon?
Little spoon ofc :)
4. Tell us about your musical journey, when did you realize this was a passion you wanted to pursue?
By grade 11 I had a very clear Idea of which paths I didn’t want to pursue. Music was always a casual hobby of mine, but as I began to play more coffee shops and local gigs, it grew into me wanting to pursue it full time! Not going to post-secondary was definitely going against the grain but I’m really happy with that decision and thankful I get to work on my passion every day!
5. What has been your most memorable moment as an artist?
Last summer I had the opportunity to open for Lionel Richie. It was truly surreal and exciting!! My Dad has always been a huge Lionel fan (myself also), so when he found out I was opening for him he of course came to the show. It was so special for me to have him in the audience for my performance and was a very full-circle moment for me.
6. Who are artists you want to collaborate with in the future?
I’ve always loved Lauv, he writes very honest and catchy music and packages it up into such a cool aesthetic/relatable form. He’s also a very talented writer- he’s one of many artists I’d love to write with if given the opportunity to!
7. What do you want fans to take away from your music?
I’ve always gravitated towards music that evokes emotion within me. My hope is that listeners will feel a lot when listening to my music. Whether it’s a joy that makes them want to dance, or comfort when they feel upset, I hope listeners can build personal relationships with my songs in whatever that may look like for them.
8. Can you tell us about any future projects in the works?
I’m VERY excited to release my EP at the end of summer (August 28th). This collection of songs is very close to my heart and I can’t wait to share it with the world!
