Check it out the full interview with this inspiring woman!
1. You’re originally from Vancouver Island. Growing up here, how did your hometown or surroundings influence your musical upbringing?
I was born in Toronto and lived there until I was 10 and it definitely impacted my musical upbringing in a lot of unique ways. Being near so much nature while also being from a smaller town impacted the way I viewed the world at a young age, which influenced my music and a lot of different elements both musically and visually. My family has been my biggest supporters forever and I’ll always remember the path they encouraged me to go on.
2. Can you recall a pivotal moment in your life that gave you the initial push to pursue a career in EDM?
I was actually training to become a prominent figure skater when I suffered a really bad injury. I spent weeks rehabilitating and it was at that point where I got a DAW and started making beats. After going to a festival, I knew this was the path I was destined for and put everything I had into making that a reality.
3. Xan, Baby Goth, and Jasiah. Who else do you hope to join musical forces with on future records?
I’ve been so fortunate to be able to work with all the amazing artists that you mentioned. They’re all fantastic in their own way and were all so great to work with. I would love to get in the studio with Tyler The Creator, Kanye West, Drake, Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, Sevdaliza, Skrillex, and Andre 3000 to name a few.
4. We love seeing female representation in the world of EDM, and we hope to see more! What advice would you give to the women who are hopeful in pursuing a career in electronic-dance?
I love this question so much because I think it’s an important topic to cover, not only in entertainment as a whole but also in dance music where it’s currently heavily male-dominated. I would say to understand that you’ll be told “no” a lot a first, and you have to keep learning and growing no matter what it takes. There are a lot of sacrifices that you’ll have to make as your career progresses, but if it’s what you want and you put the work in, I believe anything is possible.
5. What upcoming projects can fans expect from WHIPPED CREAM?
Lots and lots of music. I’m wrapping the final stages of my EP, which is dropping August 21. At the same time, I’ve been working non-stop on a lot of new music, which I hope to put out later this year and continue into 2021.
6. Lastly, tell us something you want your new listeners to know about you.
I want people to know that whatever their passion is, they should do anything in their power to make their passion their reality. No matter what field you want to work in or what you set out to achieve, make sure that stays in your heart and you don’t lose sight of what’s fulfilling and make you truly happy.
