Sound Off: Emily Vaughn!

Jun 21, 2019

Meet hot new artist Emily Vaughn! We are obsessed with her and we can’t stop dancing around the office to her new EP, “Bitch Bops.” We love her music so much that we had to invite her over to chat. It is so inspiring how confident she is, we could clearly see she wasn’t trying to act a certain way she was her fun self!

We had a blast with this Hollywood “It Girl” at our photo shoot in LA. We had a chance to find out more about her music, personal style, and what inspires her to make music!

Tell us about your new EP?

“Bitch Bops” is my first ever EP, so it obviously means a lot to me.
It’s a body of work I wrote and hand picked from a catalogue of songs
I’ve written to feel cohesive and authentic.

How long have you been writing music and singing?

I’ve been writing and singing since I could talk. My parents said I
would turn the living room into a stage to improv songs, and I’d make
my family watch me sing lol. Music has been a part of me as long as I
can remember, from choir to school plays, to studying music in school,
to moving to LA and now doing it full time.

What helps with the Writing process?

Honestly,I just write what I feel and it makes it so easy. If I’m ever
stuck on something I just think, “What would I actually say or feel if
I was in this situation?” And usually the lyrics and melodies just
flow from there.

Dream concert ticket (any band, any decade)?

Spice Girls

Favorite Artist?

This is so hard because i have so many faves it’s almost impossible to
narrow it down to one..Right now I might say Ariana but to be fair
shes tied with a lot of other pop goddesess!

Karaoke Anthem?

Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton…like, every time.

 Summer playlist?

My Bitch Bops playlist, obvi. (Shameless plug, follow it on Spotify)

Favorite DJ?

DJ Khaled or Zedd

 TV addiction?

My current obsession is Dynasty. I live for drama and that show gives
me all the drama I need.

Last fashion item purchased?

Three people—dead or alive, real or fictional—that you’d like to
invite to dinner?

But like can you imagine a dinner with me and Cher from Clueless,
Blair from gossip girl and Regina George?

Do you have a party trick?

Does my weird-old-New-Yorker-smoker-lady accent count as a trick?

Tell us a secret?

I’ve been coloring my hair since I was 16, and last time I saw it
without dye . . . I was blonde.

What does popular mean to you?

I think in highschool or when I was younger I was always worried about
what people thought about me so that I could be considered “popular” wasn’t until i stopped trying to fit in and just truly started
being myself that people started paying attention. Being authentically
you is always the most important thing.

Can you tell us about any shows or projects you have coming up?

I’m currently finishing up some music and also writing new bops, and
I’m solidifying new music plans for the summer / fall but you can
expect something cute for the summer! Tour updates coming soon ;)
