Sound Off: Haven!

We met up with this talented singer at her photo shoot in the Hollywood Hills and got a chance to get to know her a little better and ask her some of our exclusive questions.

What was your inspiration for your music?

The inspiration for this music is a mix of Bazzi, Shania Twain and Julia Michaels. I grew up on Shania Twain, so my music has a flavor of the confidence she brings to a lot of her music. I love the conversational and vulnerable lyrics from Julia Michaels and the production style of Bazzi. I try to take pieces of what inspire me and make me excited as a listener and incorporate that into what I create.

What inspires you to be an artist and write your own songs?

Music has always been something I loved, ever since I can remember. My mom took me to my first concert to see Shania Twain when I was 4 years old and I looked up at her and said, “I want to do that”. I’ve always dreamt of selling out stadiums. I bought a guitar with my birthday money when I was 9 and started writing, but I didn’t start really pursuing music seriously until I was 12. I started fronting a band, doing around 100 dates a year, and traveling to Nashville to be in writing sessions every day. Then, I homeschooled all of high school so that I would be available to travel and pursue music as well. I lived in my band trailer at 15 with my mom so I could have the ability to tour and write in Nashville. At 19 I started traveling to Los Angeles to write for this pop project. So, I feel like I’ve always had the passion and dream to be an artist, it just came naturally to me. It’s just been somethings that’s always been in me.

If you could work with any artist – who would it be?

Wow, this is a tough question. I would honestly have to say Shania Twain because she was the artist that inspired me. Since day on, I grew up listening to her and looking up to her. So that would mean the world to me.

What city was your favorite to perform in? Why?

My favorite show I’ve played was opening for Lady Antebellum at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand In Des Moines, Iowa. I used to play smaller stages at that fair growing up and my dream was always to play the Grandstand. So reaching that goal and playing that stage was a HUGE moment for me!

Favorite Song?

Dannggg I can’t choose ☺️ My current favorite song is “Body” by Julia Michaels. My all time favorite song is “Don’t Take The Girl” by Tim McGraw. Taking it back to the country roots :)

Favorite Movie?

My favorite movie is “Masterminds”. I found it on Netflix and I’ve watched it more times than I’d like to admit. 

Favorite snack?

My favorite snack is Creamistry Icecream. I think that will be my forever favorite thing to eat. 

TV addiction?

Currently my TV addiction is “This Is Us”. I’m late to the party and I am only on Season 1, but I’m obsessed!

Dream concert ticket (any band, any decade)?

My dream concert ticket is Bruno Mars! 

Three people—dead or alive, real or fictional—that you’d like to invite to dinner?

Three people I’d like to invite to dinner would be Shania Twain, my grandma Diane who passed away last year, and Jesus.

Do you have a party trick?

My party trick going straight to the food. Make sure you get all the food. Don’t wait to do it or it’s going to be cold or gone. That’s my number one priority. FOOD.

 Tell us a secret?

Okayyy this is a secret and I hate it but I can’t roll my r’s. I try all the time and for 20 years haven’t been able to do it. So if someone has a trick to teach me, please let me know :)

What does popular mean to you?

Popular to me means being someone that’s kind to people and has a positive influence on others.

Can you tell us about any shows or projects you have coming up?
