Sound Off: Novul!

Meet Novul! She is back and ready to show fans what’s in store for this songwriter/singer. It’s easy to read that Novul is outwardly expressive when it comes to her often emotive lyrics, electro-pop sound, innovative music videos, creative dance numbers, and fearless fashion statements. She is definitely our new obsession! We can’t stop dancing around the office to her new song “Boys like you”!

We got a chance to catch up with Novul at our photo shoot in Hollywood Hills! We were excited to get to know her and ask her some of our exclusive questions!

What made you want to be an artist? Is that what you have always wanted to be?
Ever since I was little, I’ve loved to entertain. I was competitive dancing at age 5, then started songwriting and taking vocal lessons. When I began getting attention for my music, I knew I wanted to be an artist and be that voice.

Tell us about you new song “Boys Like You”.
“Boys Like You” is about asking yourself, ‘why do girls like me love boys like you?’ Knowing we have this fantasy and love for the bad boy, but in the end are they actually the best? Are we just as crazy going back to them when we know deep down what’s good or bad for us?

We love your style, what are three of your favorite designers/brands or shops?
Oh wow, thank you! I love Dolls Kill, The Blonds, and Alexander McQueen.

What is your favorite city to perform in?
I’d have to say when I performed in New York City for Pride, the crowd was 8 blocks long and everyone was jumping and singing my songs! Such a high of love!

Dream concert ticket (any band, any decade)?
To see the ArtPop Lady Gaga performance! Let’s bring back Poker Face!

Favorite artist?
Lady Gaga! I love her, she’s so talented and intelligent.

Karaoke anthem?
“Stay” by Rihanna!! Or, “I Love Rock n Roll” (but the Britney Spears version).

Favorite movie?
My favorite movie is “Riding in Cars with Boys,” and as of recently one of my new favorites is “A Star Is Born.”

TV addiction?
I’d have to say my favorite TV show is Insecure! I actually was out having dinner recently and ran into Issa Rae. I never get starstruck, but I was pretty stoked to meet her! Ayyyy Issa!

Last fashion item purchased?
My last fashion item was probably something I picked up from Dolls Kill.

Three people – dead or alive, real or fiction- that you’d like to invite to dinner?
Lady Gaga, Cher and Pocahontas

Tell us a secret/ fun fact about yourself?
I have an apple and peanut butter every morning.

Do you have a party trick?
I don’t know if it’s a party trick, but I can make a clover-leaf shape with my tongue.

What does Popular mean to you?
Popular to me means being admired.

Can you tell us about any other projects you have coming up?
I have a new single coming out next month called “Amateur,” and the music video is a continuation from my “Boys Like You” music video. I’m excited for everyone to hear this new track! It’s got a sober, light groove feel to it.
