Sound Off: Kaya Stewart!

May 6, 2019

We are obsessed with Kaya Stewart and we can’t stop listening to her new song, “So Good”, that we asked her to come chat with us about it.

We had a blast with this Hollywood “It Girl” at our photo shoot in LA. We had a chance to find out more about her music, personal style, and what inspires her to make music!

Tell us about your latest single “So Good”?
I wrote ‘So Good’ in probably 15 minutes. It was one of those songs that came to me so quicky. It’s about being in a relationship that you know isn’t good for you, but you keep reminding yourself of all the good times that you’ve had together. Ignoring all the red flags and convincing yourself to stay. Its something I feel like everyone goes through.
Do you have a writing process or what inspires you to write?
I’ve never really had a writing process. Song ideas will come to me literally anywhere (usually in the shower or when I’m in my car)! I feel like I naturally write about things that are going on in my life, or something I need to get off my chest. It’s always been my outlet. I also get super inspired when I’m watching movies (especially movies from the 80’s)
What is your favorite city to perform in?
I would have to say New York!
What are three of your favorite designers/brands or shops?
As of recent I’ve been buying almost everything I wear from the flea market. But my 3 favorite designers would have to be YSL, Zara and Reformation.
Dream concert ticket (any band, any decade)?
Favorite artist?
I have too many, but Lauryn Hill is definitely my number one.
Karaoke anthem?
Waterfalls by TLC. Every. Time.
Favorite Movie?
Heathers! Imspired a lot of sounds I put on my album.
Last fashion item purchased?
Nike slides… I wear them eeverywhere.
Three people – dead or alive, real or fiction- that you’d like to invite to dinner?
Marilyn Monroe or Debby Harry.
Tell us a secret/ fun fact about yourself?
I’m really good at imitations! So far my best have to be Brittany Spears and Cher. Lol
Do you have a party trick?
I wish.
What does Popular mean to you?
The word popular always makes me think creativity. Coming up with something new, exciting and inspiring.
Can you tell us about any other projects you have coming up?
Lot’s of new things! I put out 2 new songs in the past year and have finished an album. It’s something I am so proud of and can’t wait for everyone to see and hear.
