We’re officially getting ready to put on our Christmas pajamas, eat lots of Gingerbread men and binge-watch every holiday movie ever. But, before that, we’re getting our holiday playlist ready since everyone knows you’re going to need a break from the family festivities to have a dance party in your room.

In this week’s special holiday edition of This Is Our Jam, we kick-off this week’s playlist with an updated twist on a classic from Carly Rae Jepsen, followed by a new one from Phoenix and a grunge rock anti-Christmas track from Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis. Then, we follow those songs up with a gorgeous Joni Mitchell cover from Robyn Sherwell and a perfect gem for standing under the mistletoe from Ariana Grande. Let the festive jamming begin!

Carly Rae Jepsen
“Last Christmas”
Pop queen Carly Rae Jepsen put a sexy little spin on an old classic. With a soulful, festive feel, Carly pays homage to the Wham original with grace.

“Alone on Christmas Day”
It’s been a minute since we heard some new tunes from French rockers Phoenix, but the band made a special track from Bill Murray’s A Very Murray Christmas. We wouldn’t mind being lonely on Christmas as long as this song was around.

Sadie Dupuis (of Speedy Ortiz)
“Krampus (In Love)”
We don’t discriminate against Christmas songs—even if some may be depressing. The lead singer of Speedy Ortiz impressively wrote this gem in 5 hours, and it made its way online last night. She slayed the holidays.

Robyn Sherwell
Aussie singer-songwriter Robyn Sherwell released a cover of the classic Joni Mitchell track just in time for the holiday season—one of the few tracks she’s put out since her debut EP. If you’re going to cover an angel like Joni, you must cover it well, and Robyn does an incredible job with sweet, breathy vocals over a piano track. This is a good one for crying into a box of Christmas cookies.

Ariana Grande
“Wit It This Christmas”
Ariana Grande managed to make everything innocent about Christmas the complete opposite. With this sultry, slow jam off her new EP Christmas & Chill, she reminds you that she’s “tasty like a candy cane.” Netflix & chill totally just got an upgrade.
