THIS IS OUR JAM: RIHANNA, HALSEY & MAGGIE LINDEMANN
Feb 5, 2016
This week had a ton of new releases, and we’re not complaining. Our playlists are getting bulky…and that’s a good thing. In this week’s This Is Our Jam, we’ve included an intimate track from Rihanna, a cinematic pop song from KLOE and a Justin Bieber cover from Halsey. We’ve rounded out this week’s mix with the first single from The Lumineers’ new record, an R&B groove from Majid Jordan and a pop gem from Maggie Lindemann. Fill up your playlists before your Friday night plans!
Rihanna
“Kiss It Better”
ANTI wasn’t the Rihanna record people were expecting, but that’s okay: it shows a different side to Rihanna. “Kiss It Better” is a gorgeous slow jam that lets you feel Rihanna’s pain.
KLOE
“Teenage Craze”
Dark pop has found its latest muse in Glaswegian KLOE. “Teenage Craze” is a galactic pop gem that’s a bit of a goodbye to the 19-year-old’s youth. Who can’t relate to that?
Halsey
“Love Yourself” (Justin Bieber cover)
It’s like Halsey can do no wrong. The pop chanteuse gave Justin a run for his money with her sweet and soulful cover yesterday on triple j.
The Lumineers
“Ophelia”
Let the crying commence: folk-pop trio The Lumineers are back and revealed the first single off of their upcoming sophomore record. The track reveals some gorgeous piano-playing and longing. It’s pretty hard not to fall in love with this song.
Majid Jordan
“Small Talk”
The duo featured on Drake’s “Hold On We’re Going Home” and signed to Drizzy’s OVO Sound dropped their debut LP today. It’s a seductive album full of alternative R&B filled with contemplative lyrics. “Small Talk” is sultry gem that will be playing on repeat in your head.
Maggie Lindemann
“Things”
Pop newcomer Maggie Lindemann just dropped an R&B-infused electropop track called “Things” that we’re obsessing over. You can hear that she’s heavily influenced by Lana Del Rey through the inflection in her vocals.
