THIS IS OUR JAM: ZAYN, CHARLIE PUTH AND FRANCES CONE
Jan 29, 2016
It’s been mayhem in the music world the past week, and with a ton of big albums just like Rihanna’s coming our way, 2016 is going to be a big year in music. In this week’s This Is Our Jam, we have ZAYN’s new single, which dropped last night, a gorgeous collab from Coldplay and Queen Bey and a dreamy, folk-pop track from Frances Cone. We round out the week with a Phil Collins cover, a lovely duet from Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez and a grunge-folk beauty from Haley Heynderickx. Listen up, below!
ZAYN
“PILLOWTALK”
The former One-Directioner has debuted the first single rom his debut record: a sultry R&B-infused pop track that might be getting more hype than ANTI. The video features (possible real-life) lovers Gigi Hadid and Zayn.
Coldplay ft. Beyoncé
“Hymn For The Weekend”
Coldplay got out of their comfort zone for this one with the help of Beyoncé. It’s a hypnotizing track that has us even more hooked with the flower wall in the music video.
Frances Cone
“Arizona”
Brooklyn’s Frances Cone just debuted the first single from their upcoming record, and it’s a heartfelt dedication to singer Christina Cone’s brother coming out. This haunting, cincematic track will get you through your Friday (and will probably make you cry).
IDYLL
“Another Day In Paradise”
Don’t you just love a great Phil Collins cover? This one is a soulful synth-pop rendition that will haunt your dreams in the best possible way.
Charlie Puth ft. Selena Gomez
“We Don’t Talk Anymore”
The latest collab from Charlie and Selena is a melancholy pop anthem that you can dance to while letting out all of your feels. While the vocals are amazing, the production on the track stands out the most.
Haley Heynderickx
“Drinking Song”
Portland native Haley Heynderickx is an up-and-comer we’ve had our eyes on since she submitted a video of her performing this song to NPR’s Tiny Desk contest. Falling somewhere in between Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield and Mitski, Heynderickx’s layered vocals are sharp and powerful over plucked instrumentation. We expect big things from her.
