Any gal that can sing and play the harp will catch our eye. Montreal-based artist Emilie & Ogden (yes, singer Emilie Kahn named her harp Ogden) pairs jazzy vocals with the beautiful strumming of the harp. After covering Taylor Swift’s “Style,”the Canadian singer-songwriter generated quite a bit of buzz on the Internet—Taylor Swift even shared the cover herself.
Before Emilie & Ogden drops her new record 10 000 on October 2, we’re excited to premiere the video for “What Happened”—a song about a sociopath translated through gritty and rhythmic lyrics. If you’ve been friends with one or dated one, this song will definitely be relatable. For Kahn, the song came to her while she was singing in the bathtub while feeling pissed at this person. “If you’ve ever met a sociopath you’ll get what this song is about; someone who turns out to be completely different than you thought they were,” said Kahn. The video for “What Happened” shows Kahn in a variety of outfits and scenes projecting what seems to be multiple personalities.
In the past, Kahn has toured with Half Moon Run, Patrick Watson and Ibeyi. Following a rise in Montreal’s club scene, she made her U.S. debut last spring.
