Having written for Britney Spears and Ke$ha, Sophie Stern of Sophie and the Bom Boms knows a thing or two about making a great pop song. Back in 2014, Sophie and her band released their first EP, The Shmixtape, for the world to hear, and in 2016, they’ll be releasing 12 songs—one per month. On Sophie and the Bom Bom’s latest track “Big Girls,” the band shows off their talent for writing an 80s-driven synth-pop song.

Sometimes all you really need is to dance out your fears, and that’s what Sophie tries to convey in their latest song. Plus, we love the pop art visuals and conversation bubbles that pop up in the video. “I wrote this song when I was low and going bananas to remind myself to never let anyone get the best of me,” says Sophie of the track. “I think it’s a message that all of us need at some point when we get down.”
